Sky Writes - New Writing North

Sky Writes is a new talent development programme from Sky Studios and New Writing North, which seeks to identify and nurture television writers from under-represented groups and under-served geographical areas in the North of England.

The project takes place in Blackpool, Gateshead and Rotherham and we have a particular aim to support people of colour and those from LGBTQ+, disabled and lower socio-economic backgrounds.

In April 2021 they will run free Starting to Write for TV workshops, via Zoom, for people living in or near Blackpool, Gateshead and Rotherham. Each session will be led by an experienced television writer and supported by a programme producer. You can sign up via the pages here.

Following these introductory sessions, anyone interested in developing their writing can apply for the free Sky Writes course, which will be spread across six sessions during the summer and autumn of 2021.
