SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT
Writing can be a lonely task. These sessions give participants the chance to meet like-minded people from all different walks of life with fresh eyes and minds to bounce your ideas off.

Attend weekly sessions to develop your scripts and ideas where you can work at your own pace and set your own goals. Sessions are led by an experienced workshop facilitator, there to help guide you and make suggestions of where to go next.
​
The sessions are designed to keep you motivated, network with other writers and most importantly to enjoy writing and to be inspired by the writing of others.
Regardless of what stage you’re at with your script you can submit work at each session for feedback, for example, a one-page treatment, section of your script or a step outline.

The groups are a mixture of people who have been writing for some time and new recent participants from our previous introduction courses.
Throughout the year our groups invite actors into read sections of your work. These sessions are fantastic as they give you writing deadlines, a chance to hear your work come alive and to meet local actors.

Sessions Outline
These informal script development sessions are designed to support and encourage your writing. Whether you are developing an idea or want feedback on your script the sessions will give you an opportunity to move forward and challenge your writing.

The key to sessions is that they motivate you, keep you writing and break the loneliness of writing. These sessions are for enthusiastic writers only. The groups are kept small so that everyone’s work will be discussed each session.

Saturday Sessions
These are one-off sessions designed to get a group of writers together to share their work, ideas, problems, and obstacles. In turn, you’ll receive feedback and encouragement.
We offer afternoon sessions and our all day script development lock-in’s, where you have the opportunity to write, feedback and workshop your scripts and ideas.

***Script development sessions are only for people with previous experience. You must have either attended one of Scriptwriting North’s courses or have attended a course elsewhere. ***

ONE DAY INTENSIVE DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS
Do you want to do something productive with your weekend? Then start it with a script session.

These sessions are either held in Manchester or online. Join us to review a up to 15 pages of your script, get feedback on your treatment or let us help you structure your step outline.
These sessions are here to motivate, challenge and to keep you in contact with your fellow writers.
So lets start the weekend with a bang.

SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT GROUP MANCHESTER
This is a rolling weekly group where we take block bookings of 6 sessions.
​
The groups are really informal but ensure that everyone who attends gets their work workshopped. The writers who attend are a mixture of very new and experienced writers. All that attend are supportive and keen to build a portfolio of work.
If you feel you lack motivation or just want to be surrounded by other local writers then these are a great opportunity to keep writing and get feedback.
At various points during the year, we invite local actors in to have a read through of a section of your writing.
Groups book up extremely quickly so if you miss out add your name to the waiting list or see if we have any places on our online version of the group.
WEBINAR SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT GROUP
This is a rolling weekly group. There are 6 sessions in every block.
​
These groups are great if you want to attend but want the comfort of your own home. You simply login into the group, and upload your work that you want to be reviewed. The rest of the attendees and the facilitator will all login to the meeting space.
​
During the sessions, we do read-throughs of scripts, treatments or simply bounce ideas about. Writers work on short films, tv series, and feature films.
​
The groups are limited to no more than seven attendees.
The sessions are recorded so you can download the meeting and watch your feedback at a later date.
If you feel like you need deadlines, support and motivation then these sessions are perfect for you.
They are open to anyone regardless of your location. To be eligible you must have attended a scriptwriting course in advance. If you haven’t attended one of Scriptwriting North’s then we will ask for for a two-page sample of script to assess your suitability for the group.
SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT WEEKENDER
So, do you fancy a weekend of writing, feedback and hanging out with fellow writers?
Our weekend retreat is an opportunity to do exactly that. A chance to get essential time to write, get motivation, and be mega productive.

Format
Each day you can attend a table read session where you can get feedback on your scripts and ideas.
Writing workshops – this year the focus will be character and action and making scenes work harder.
1-2-1’s available each day, you will have your very own scriptwriting consultant on call so if you’re struggling or an idea pops into your head, you’ve always got a soundboard and support.
Also there will be plenty of time for writing.
You can be as social or solitary as you like. All the bedrooms are private and ensuite and there is space in the venue to write. On the Saturday night you can carry on writing or close the laptop and head down to the pub.
