Beth McCann

Founder of Scriptwriting North 

Beth is a lecturer in Screenwriting and Script Consultant. She specialises in working with new and emerging writers. She has also worked with a range of organisations to deliver workshops and courses, such as BFI Film Hub, The Lowry and companies looking to better communicate their narratives. She was the director of the fringe festival to Manchester International Festival. She has also worked with North West Vision and Media as script consultant on their Green Shoots scheme and was the coordinator for the Northern Film Network, delivering projects alongside Documentary Campus. She is currently a judge for Southport International Film Festival.

Beth established Scriptwriting North in 2008 with a vision to create and support a community of screenwriters. Scriptwriting North has since worked with 100's of writers to develop their craft and tell their stories. Beth's passion lies in storytelling and working with writers. She has produced award-winning short films written by Scriptwriting North writers and and has plans to produce more short films in the future.

 

Beth has an MA in scriptwriting for TV, Film and Radio and is currently working on her PhD that explores the writer's journey of adaptation and expansion of their own feature film script into a series.
