FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’M TOTALLY NEW TO WRITING. WILL THE INTRODUCTION COURSES BE SUITABLE FOR ME?

Yes. They are specifically designed for new writers. The courses are informal and fun, and your tutor is only an email away if you have any questions.

I WANT TO ATTEND A 6 WEEK COURSE BUT I CAN’T ATTEND ALL THE SESSIONS?

That’s fine. We understand that life gets in the way of writing sometimes. There's no problem with missing a session, but if possible we ask that you let us know in advance.

WILL THERE BE HOMEWORK?

On both our 6 week introduction and our script development group you are required to bring work for feedback each week. However, if you haven’t been able to one week you can still learn a lot from hearing other people's work and feedback, and providing feedback yourself so it's no barrier to attendance.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE INTRODUCTION COURSES?

Once you’ve completed one of our intro courses you will be invited to join our script development groups to continue to develop your writing.

WHO ATTENDS THE SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT GROUPS?

What makes these sessions so unique is the eclectic mix of people who attend. Once you’ve attended one of our introduction courses you are eligible to attend our groups. We have writers who have only recently attended one of our intro courses as well as experienced and professional writers.

HOW DO THE ONLINE GROUPS WORK?

All you need is internet access and a web camera. You will be giving a login code for each session. Once you log on you will be able to upload your work to the meeting space. This gives you the opportunity to read people’s work in advance. Then the sessions will begin. The sessions are live and you will have direct access with your group of writers and facilitator. The sessions are all recorded so you can revisit at a later date.

WHAT IS THE FACILITATOR'S ROLE?

Your facilitator is there is offer advice, support and motivate you. They are also there to challenge your writing. Their role is to help you get the most out of your writing.

I WANT A 1-2-1 BUT I’M NOT SURE HOW MANY SESSIONS I WANT?

That’s fine, you can book as you go. You may book a couple and then have a break and come back. The sessions are bespoke. We ask that you tell us the areas you want help with and we draw up a plan of how we can work with you to help you achieve your writing goals.

CAN I DESIGN MY OWN COURSE THROUGH THE 1-2-1'S?

Yes, that’s the beauty of the sessions. Although there won’t be lectures as such, sessions can certainly have a focus such as structure and we will design a session that will help you approach your current project and move through the areas that you need assistance with.
